Venezuela Earthquake Response
Proximity2Humanity (P2H) partnered with Alimenta la Solidaridad in response to the earthquakes that shook Venezuela on June 24. Alimenta la Solidaridad is a Venezuelan organization founded in 2016 to respond to the food crisis in Caracas. Immediately following the earthquakes, its network of community volunteers mobilized to quickly provide assistance to earthquake survivors and local search and rescue teams by delivering food, water, emergency supplies, and more.

P2H provided a solidarity grant to Alimenta la Solidaridad and launched an online fundraising campaign in support of the earthquake response. With that funding, Venezuelan volunteers were able to distribute food kits to affected families across La Guaira State.

Why P2H supported Alimenta la Solidaridad and the locally-led earthquake response
Through our work in Sudan with Mutual Aid Sudan Coalition, we have seen that local organizations and frontline communities are often the fastest, most trusted, and most locally-informed responders in a crisis. They are there before formal systems arrive, during the response itself, and long after the news headlines have faded.
P2H was created to support these local response efforts as directly, quickly, and cost-effectively as possible. Our role is not to replace traditional aid or create parallel structures, but to help flexible funding reach trusted local responders who already understand the context, relationships, and practical barriers on the ground.
Venezuela is another example of why this model matters. In a context where public services are stretched and formal response capacity is limited, trusted local networks are essential to getting support to affected communities quickly.
